Adolfo Bartoli (19.03.1851 - 18.07.1896) was an Italian physicist. He was born in Florence. He studied at the University of Bologna. In 1878 he was professor of physics at the university in Sassari, from 1879 at the Technological Institute in Florence, from 1886 at Catania and later at Pavia.
His work was in the field of heat, the theory of thermal radiation and physical chemistry. In 1876, starting from thermodynamic considerations, he found an expression for the pressure of radiation which had been obtained earlier (1873) by J. Maxwell in his electromagnetic theory of light. He studied the specific heat of water.
