Carl Anton Bjerknes (24.10.1825-20.03.1903) — Norwegian physicist. Born in Oslo. He graduated from the university in Oslo (1848) and worked there from 1861 (professor from 1863).
His work was in hydrodynamics and mathematical physics. In 1875 he discovered an analogy between the motion of bodies in an ideal fluid and electrodynamic phenomena. He tried to explain electromagnetic forces in terms of hydrodynamic ones. He gave the so-called hydrodynamic picture of the world. The author of one of the early models of the atom.
