Georg Adolf Busch (born 12.09.1908) - Swiss physicist. Born in Zurich. He graduated from the Zurich Polytechnic (1933) and worked there (professor from 1948; in 1956–77 founder and director of the solid-state physics laboratory).
His work was in solid-state physics, magnetism and semiconductor physics. He synthesised many rare-earth compounds with the aim of producing ferromagnetic semiconductors. He discovered a number of ferroelectrics and antiferroelectrics, the magnetism of free electrons in semiconductors, and new magneto-optical effects in ferromagnetic semiconductors. He studied the mechanism of conduction in semiconductors.
