Gerald Feinberg ( born 27.05.1933) is an American theoretical physicist. He was born in New York. He graduated from Columbia University (1954), where in 1957 he received the degree of Doctor of Science. In 1957 — 59 he worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory, and from 1959 at Columbia University (as professor from 1965).
His work was in the field of elementary particle physics and quantum field theory. In 1958 he suggested that the K0-meson has a complex charge structure, and in 1959, together with M. Goldhaber, he confirmed with high accuracy the law of conservation of electric charge in the interactions of elementary particles. Independently of E. Sudarshan he put forward the tachyon hypothesis, and independently of others he constructed a theory of strong interactions with intermediate vector bosons.
