August Otto Föppl (25.01.1854-12.08.1924) was a German physicist. He was born in Gross-Umstadt. He graduated from the Higher Technical School in Karlsruhe (1874). From 1892 he was professor at the University of Leipzig, and from 1894 at the Higher Technical School in Munich.
His work concerned electromagnetism, technical mechanics, the strength of materials, problems of relative and absolute motion, and the study of gyroscopic phenomena.
