Horia Hulubei (15.02.1896-22.02.1972) was a Romanian physicist and a member of the Academy of the Socialist Republic of Romania (1955). He was born in Iași. In 1933 he received his doctorate at the Sorbonne. From 1940 he was professor and head of a chair at the University of Bucharest, and from 1956 director of the Institute of Atomic Physics.
His work concerned optical, X-ray and gamma spectroscopy, nuclear physics and elementary particle physics.
A member of a number of academies and scientific societies.
