Moisei Izrailevich Korsunsky (19.04.1903 —6.10.1976) was a Soviet physicist and an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1962). He was born in Rostov-on-Don. He graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute (1926). In 1929-34 he worked at the Siberian Physico-Technical Institute, in 1939 —52 at the Kharkov Physico-Technical Institute, and in 1952 —62 he was professor at the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute. From 1962 he was at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.
His research concerned nuclear physics, solid-state physics and the physics of semiconductors. He established that it is possible to build electrostatic and magnetic analysers of the deflecting type with a high resolving power. He carried out a series of studies on the use of multiply charged ions in nuclear physics. He proposed a model of the electronic structure of the transition metals of the yttrium–palladium series and of their alloys (the KLO model). He studied the photoelectric properties of selenium and discovered a new type of photoconductivity.
