Stanisław Loria (18.01.1883-8.08.1958) was a Polish physicist. He was born in Warsaw. In 1917—41 he was professor at the University of Lvov and director (1928—41) of the Physics Institute; in 1946—51 he was professor at the University of Wrocław and from 1951 at the University of Poznań.
His research was mainly in the field of physical optics and atomic physics, in particular the dispersion of light, fluorescence, magneto-optics, thermal radiation, radioactivity and the diffraction of electrons. He was the author of the books “Relativity and Gravitation” and “Ether and Matter”.
