Ernst Pringsheim (11.07.1859-28.06.1917) was a German physicist. He was born in Breslau (now Wrocław, Polish People's Republic). He graduated from the University of Berlin (1882), where he worked (from 1896 as professor). From 1905 he was professor at the University of Breslau.
His main work concerned the study of spectra and thermal radiation. In 1899, together with O. Lummer (independently of H. Rubens and F. Kurlbaum), he established deviations from Wien's law of thermal radiation for long wavelengths, and with him he confirmed Wien's displacement law.
