An obsolete unit of frequency interval. Named after the French physicist F. Savart. 1 savart is equal to a frequency interval whose boundary frequencies have a ratio f2/f1 such that lg|f2/f1| = 0.001; here f2/f1 = 1.0023. 1 savart = 3.32*10-3 octave = 3.98 cents. The savart was used to measure intervals of pitch.
