Biophysics
Biophysics is the physics of complex macroscopic molecular systems — of cells and organisms. Their functioning, which goes on under relatively small changes of temperature and pressure, is determined in the end by chemical, molecular processes. An organism is a chemical machine whose control and regulation are carried out by molecular signals and by molecular sources, converters and receptors of information.
Biophysics is the science that studies biological regularities using the ideas and methods of physics. The problems it solves are biological; its concepts and methods are physical.
