Annaev, Rukhi Guseinovich
Rukhi Guseinovich Annaev (24.I 1909 - 9.VII 1977) was a Soviet physicist, an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Turkmen SSR (1951) and its vice-president in 1956—59. He was born in Samarkand. He graduated from Moscow University (1936). In 1941—45 he was head of a department at the Ashkhabad Pedagogical Institute and from 1950 at Turkmen University. In 1949—51 he was director of the Physico-Technical Institute of the Turkmen Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and in 1951-52 of the Institute of Physics and Geophysics of the Academy of Sciences of the Turkmen SSR. His research concerned magnetism and the physics of metals. He detected (1948) an anomaly in the even thermomagnetic effect of nickel—manganese alloys. He studied how the configuration of the heat flow affects the thermomagnetic effect. He discovered a number of new regularities in binary alloys.
