Veniamin Moiseyevich Kelman (born 7.02.1915) is a Soviet experimental physicist and an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1962). He was born in Kiev. He graduated from Kiev University (1937). In 1937-41 he worked at the Kharkov Physico-Technical Institute, and in 1945 — 62 at the Leningrad Physico-Technical Institute. From 1962 he has been head of the department of nuclear spectroscopy at the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR.
His research concerned electron optics and nuclear spectroscopy. He created a new line of research in electron optics, prism electron optics. For nuclear research he developed prism beta- and mass spectrometers of high resolving power and transmission, based on the electron and ion prisms that he had himself created.
