Gamma quantum

(γ), a photon of large energy (usually above 100 keV). Gamma quanta arise, for example, in quantum transitions in atomic nuclei, in certain transformations of elementary particles, and in the bremsstrahlung and synchrotron radiation of high-energy electrons.
