Focusing of sound and ultrasonic waves (a Russian monograph). I. N. Kanevsky. Monograph. Main Editorial Board for Physical and Mathematical Literature, Nauka publishing house, Moscow, 1977.The book is devoted to the focusing of elastic waves. Its first part sets out methods of calculating the characteristics of converging wave fronts on the basis of a single approach founded on the relation between the parameters of the field in the focal region and on the wave front. The second part is devoted to experimental research on, and practical applications of, focusing systems in various fields of science and technology. The book uses modern mathematical methods together with concrete recommendations for the design and use of acoustic focusing systems.
The book is intended for a wide range of specialists in physical and technical acoustics, ultrasonic engineering and technology, ultrasonic therapy, surgery and diagnostics, and also for those engaged in designing focusing systems in sonar, radar and optics.

Simple experiments with ultrasound (a Russian book). V. V. MayerA modern schoolchild simply cannot fail to know at least the simplest properties of ultrasound. And the point is not only the role that ultrasound plays in science and technology. It is much more important that ultrasonic oscillations and waves make it possible to study quite deeply the common features of every oscillatory and wave process, and this, without exaggeration, means to a certain extent grasping the spirit of modern physics.
Ultra-acoustics is interesting also because many experiments that scientists performed a few decades ago using complex scientific apparatus can now be reproduced on simple instruments at home or in the school physics room. In this way each of you has the opportunity to develop in yourself the elementary skills of the creative work of an experimental physicist.
