Malinovsky, Tadeusz Iosifovich

Tadeusz Iosifovich Malinovsky (born 14.10.1921) is a Soviet physicist and an academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Moldavian SSR (1976). He was born in Kishinev. He graduated from the Kishinev Pedagogical Institute (1944). In 1950 — 61 he worked at the Moldavian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences (head of a department from 1957), in 1961 —64 he was deputy director of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Moldavian SSR, and in 1964 — 74 and from 1978 deputy director of the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Moldavian SSR (in 1974-78 chief scientific secretary of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Moldavian SSR). His research concerned the crystal physics and crystal chemistry of inorganic compounds, the automation of the determination of atomic crystal structures and the methodology of science. He laid the foundations of a crystallochemical account of the biological activity of a number of complexes with sulfur-containing ligands, and he created an algorithm for automating the heavy-atom method of determining structures.
