John Mitchell Nuttall (21.07.1890-28.01.1958) was an English physicist. He was born in Todmorden. He graduated from the University of Manchester (1911), where he worked in 1920 — 55 (in 1939 —44 head of the physics laboratory).
His main work was in nuclear physics. In 1911, together with H. Geiger, he established the relation between the lifetime and the decay energy of radioactive nuclei (the Geiger–Nuttall law).
