Ștefan Procopiu (19.01.1890-22.08.1972) — Romanian physicist, member of the Academy of the Socialist Republic of Romania (1955). Born in Bârlad. Graduated from the University of Iași (1912). In 1913 —19— assistant at the University of Bucharest, in 1926—72 — professor at the University of Iași.
His work concerned electromagnetism, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, optics, magnetism and spectroscopy.
