Takibaev, Zhabaga Suleimanovich

Zhabaga Suleimanovich Takibaev (born 28.09. 1919) — a Soviet physicist, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR (1958), and in 1961 -71 its vice-president. Born in Semipalatinsk. He graduated from the Central Asian University in Tashkent (1942). In 1945-49 he was a postgraduate student and research associate at the Physical Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1950-58 he was director of the Physico-Technical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, in 1964 —70 of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, and in 1970 —77 of the Institute of High Energy Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. Since 1958 he has been professor at Kazakh University. His work was in classical electrodynamics, cosmic ray physics and high energy physics. He studied the nature of the interaction of fast nucleons with the nuclei of various elements, the formation of clusters and fireballs, and the transition effect. Together with others he obtained new information on the nature of inelastic interactions of hadrons. On the basis of a nonlinear equation of quantum mechanics he developed a theory of inclusive reactions of multiple production of hadrons.
