Nuclear matter

A spatially unbounded homogeneous system of nucleons in a state that is stable against spontaneous expansion or compression. Nuclear matter is a theoretical idealisation approached by nuclei with a very large number of nucleons and by cosmic bodies whose density is of the order of nuclear density, for example neutron stars.
