Fizbattle, or remote all-Russian olympiads

Today's schoolchildren have far more opportunities than their parents had in their day. Taking part in the popular olympiads – in mathematics, physics, language and literature − gave an unspoken right to the favour of the teachers, and sometimes served as a lawful reason for missing lessons; but to take part one had to travel either to the other end of the city or to the regional centre. Now remote olympiads have been developed for schoolchildren, which is very convenient for anyone with a computer and the internet. One can take part in them sitting at home or in a computer class. This saves effort and time, which is precious to schoolchildren.

Features of the physics olympiad

There is nothing extremely difficult in the tasks of the olympiad – they are based on the school curriculum. Fifteen tests have been designed specially for pupils of the middle and upper forms; participating teachers are given teaching materials, and all their expenses are reimbursed.
The physics olympiad requires one-off fees from the participants, which are quite affordable (about 150 roubles). But the experience and knowledge gained in the course of taking part will prove truly priceless to the schoolchildren.

Thanks to remote data exchange, schoolchildren can now take part in olympiads on their own – such bold action was simply out of reach before. The only nuance – the fee has to be paid by an adult − the parents or close relatives.
Holding a remote olympiad is an excellent way of motivating pupils and helping them fulfil themselves, a method that aims not at results and prizes (certificates of merit, certificates) but at the process of achieving them. Besides, such competitions will be truly objective: it is easy to be the best in one's school or in one's own class, but try to become the best in the city or the district!
