Czesław Białobrzeski (31.08.1878-12.10.1953) — Polish physicist, a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences (1952). Born in Poshekhonye (near Yaroslavl). He studied at the University of Kiev (1896–1901) and worked there (professor in 1913–19). In 1919–21 professor at the University of Kraków and in 1921–53 at the University of Warsaw; in 1931–53 also director of the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the University of Warsaw.
His research concerned thermodynamics, relativity, quantum theory, astrophysics, and the philosophy and methodology of science. He studied the part played by radiation pressure in the internal equilibrium of stars and was the first to put forward (1913) the idea of radiative energy transfer in stars. He studied the problem of causality in modern physics.
